This September Gallery North is pleased to present Gifts of
Gratitude, a collection of sculptural and functional pottery
by Karen Towey and portrait drawings by Father Armando
Guzman. The show is a unique group of works created for the
enjoyment of the public and an expression of gratitude from
the artists who feel fortunate to be artists.
Karen Towey is a professional artist and teacher at
Archbishop Murphy High School as well as an artist member of
Gallery North. She specializes in Raku and other styles of
pottery, creating decorative and functional items such as
dishes, mugs, and bake ware. Each piece reflects her close
relationship with nature often including natural sculptural
elements.
Father Armando Guzman, parochial vicar and chaplain at
Archbishop Murphy High School, studied art at Gonzaga
University. His fascination for the drama of the human face,
its planes and shadows, has been his main artistic focus.
The show will feature a variety of portrait drawings, each
one telling a story about the subject.
The public is invited to meet Karen Towey and Father Armando
Guzman at the Artists' Reception on Sunday, September 13th
from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and again at the Edmonds Art Walk on
September 17th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Refreshments will
be served. Please join us! Gifts of
Gratitude will be on display from September 1st through
September 30th.
