Melanie Jorissen - Paper Quilling
Paper is a simple word describing a varied and colorful world, not unlike my art. I have always been creating, now I find myself back to a childhood love - paper. It started with an article on making quilled snowflakes in a magazine and now I am in my 10th year of quilling. Having no resources at that time, I cut the small strips of paper by hand and used make shift tools to form the quills.

I started using patterns developed for quilling, progressed to patterns designed for other materials, and I now develop my own designs. Now with my modern tools and my inspiration I can turn anything into a quilled piece of art.

Each piece of artwork is individual and unique. I use several art techniques when creating my pieces, paper quilling, paper sculpture, paper collage, paper casting, watercolors and stamping techniques are a few that you may see in my pieces.
