A graduate of the University of Rochester, Sam Spencer has been studying photography for several years at Everett Community College with instructors Lloyd Weller and Ellen Felsenthal.

Sam Spencer’s photographic work is a mixture of the pictorial and the modernist. Recently he has begun to do composites in the tradition of Thomas Benton where clouds reflect the inner mental state.  In Spencer’s work, this state lies in stark contrast to the environment, which usually includes aging industrial scenes.
